#YearofMindfulness Day 51: Do What You Can

I dutifully practiced mindfulness in the morning and in the afternoon, and--thanks to a significantly delayed bedtime--didn't even realize until I finally laid down at night that I forgot my evening mindfulness practice. Normally, I practice my evening mindfulness after our child goes to bed. However, after sleeping only 1.5 hours two nights ago, and then again last night--thanks to my child's recurring nighttime wakings (What is going on--sickness? Growth spurt? Teething? I don't even know.)--my brain felt like fuzz and I wasn't thinking too clearly by the time our little one finally went to sleep for the last time. Hence my missed mindfulness practice session. It's disappointing to miss a session, especially since I felt like I was getting back into the rhythm of practicing three times a day, and I was intentional about practicing this morning and this afternoon. But you know what? This is life. It's messy. It's unpredictable. Instead of focusing on all of the elements that are outside my control (e.g. is my kid teething?), I need to focus on what I can actually do something about.

Area for Growth: Set calendar reminders to practice mindfulness right after supper every evening.

Wins: I practiced mindfulness twice today!
